S.H.G. DIARY FARMING

Chichera is a compact village under Nehra G.P. and Khariar block of Nuapada district. As there is a chilling plant of OMFED in Khariar, Jaymaa Kali women SHG consisting of 11 women members unanimously decided to start a diary farm on cluster basis under SGSY scheme. They contacted block BDO, Bank Manager, SBI, and local JVO of Khariar block. Accordingly a loan of Rs. 2.66 lakhs was sanctioned in favour of 9 members of the SHG. They purchased 18 nos of CBS cows. Now total milk collection is 120-130 liter per day. Now they are selling milk to OMFED as well in local market @ Rs. 8 to 10/- and getting benefits from this diary farming.
